HM The Queen delivers the New Year Address every year on December 31st at 6 pm. The address is broadcast live on TV and radio from The Queen’s office in Christian IX’s Palace at Amalienborg. On the 1 January 1941, Christian X gave the first radio broadcasted New Year Speech.
Traditionally, the address is broadcast live on TV and radio from The Queen’s reception room in Christian IX’s Palace at Amalienborg.
The New Year’s address was as an exeption held from Fredensborg Palace in 2018 as a result of the renovation of a large underground drainage installation at Amalienborg Palace Square and in 2015, 2014, 1980 and 1979, due to renovations at Christian IX's Palace, Amalienborg.
