CONFIDENTIAL TO EDITORS: NEW YEAR’S BANQUET AND LEVEES 2013

The following are guidelines for photographers and journalists in connection with HM The Queen’s New Year’s speech on 31 December 2012, the New Year’s levee and banquet on 1 January, and the New Year’s levees on 3 and 4 January 2013.

THE NEW YEAR’S SPEECH WILL BE HELD ON MONDAY, 31 DECEMBER 2012 AT 18.00 IN CHRISTIAN IX’s PALACE, AMALIENBORG.


Pool (few spaces): Photo opportunity after the New Year’s speech is given. 
Meeting time: 17.30 at the Main Gate to Christian IX’s Palace. 

Applications for accreditation including name, position, CPR number and media affiliation must be sent to kom@kongehuset.dk by 14.00 on Thursday, 27 December at the latest. Accredited press will be notified directly by 16.00 on Friday, 28 December at the latest. 

The speech will be posted on the Royal Danish House’s website immediately after it is given. 
 

THE QUEEN AND THE PRINCE CONSORT HOLD A NEW YEAR’S LEVEE AND BANQUET TUESDAY, 1 JANUARY 2013 AT 19.00 IN CHRISTIAN VII’s PALACE, AMALIENBORG.


The guests arrive from 18.30.

Participants: The government and specially invited guests.  TRH The Crown Prince and The Crown Princess and TRH Prince Joachim and Princess Marie will be present.

There will be two press pools, which must be applied for in advance. It is not possible to move between the two positions. 
Pool 1: On the palace square by the entrance to the Vestibule, where the royal family arrives between 18.50-18.55. Meeting time for pool 1: 18.30 by the Main Gate. 
Pool 2 (10 spaces):

Inside by the main stairs, where the rest of the guests arrive via the palace’s Main Gate 18.30-19.00. Meeting time for pool 2: 17.30 by the Main Gate, where there will be a security sweep by PET. 

Applications for accreditation including indication of desired pool, name, position, CPR number and media affiliation must be sent to kom@kongehuset.dk by 14.00 on Thursday, 27 December at the latest. 
Press accredited for pool 2 will be notified directly by 16.00 on Friday, 28 December at the latest.

 

Press ID cards must be carried. Press without accreditation will not get access to the palace.


THE QUEEN AND THE PRINCE CONSORT HOLD A NEW YEAR’S LEVEE THURSDAY, 3 JANUARY 2013 AT  09.50 IN CHRISTIAN VII’s PALACE, AMALIENBORG. 

Guests arrive from 09.30.

Participants: The Supreme Court’s judges, watch officers of the Royal Life Guard and the Royal Hussar Guard regiments. The Crown Prince Couple will be present. 
 

Photographers and journalists can stand in a designated area at the Main Gate. Meeting time: 09.15 by the Main Gate. 

Applications for accreditation with name, position, CPR number and media affiliation must be sent to kom@kongehuset.dk by 09.00 on Wednesday, 2 January at the latest. Accredited press will be notified directly by 16.00 on 2 January at the latest. Press ID cards must be carried.

THE QUEEN AND THE PRINCE CONSORT HOLD A NEW YEAR’S LEVEE FOR DIPLOMATS THURSDAY, 3 JANUARY 2013 AT 11.30 AT CHRISTIANSBORG PALACE.


Guests arrive from 10.50.

Participants: The residing chiefs of mission of the diplomatic corps with their spouses and side-accredited ambassadors.  The Crown Prince Couple will be present.

There will be two press pools. Press with access to both pools will be led from pool 1 to pool 2:
Pool 1 (40 spaces): Drabantsalen (Guards’ Room), where the royal family and guests arrive between 10.50-11.30.
Pool 2 (20 spaces): Balcony in the Great Hall, where photographing is allowed during the presentation of the diplomats.
Afterwards, journalists and photographers leave Christiansborg Palace, approx.12.00.

Meeting time: 09.45 by The Queen’s Gate, Prince Jørgen’s Yard, where there will be a security sweep by PET. 

Applications for accreditation including indication of desired pool, name, position, CPR number and media affiliation must be sent to kom@kongehuset.dk by 09.00 on Wednesday, 2 January at the latest. 
Press ID cards must be carried. Press without accreditation will not get access to Christiansborg Palace. Accredited press will be notified directly by 16.00 on 2 January at the latest.
 
 

NEW YEAR’S LEVEE FRIDAY, 4 JANUARY 2013 FROM 09.30 AT CHRISTIANSBORG PALACE. 


Guests arrive from 09.00 until 12.00. 

Participants: Officers from the Defence and the Danish Emergency Management Agency, the I., II. and III. rank classes, and representatives from large national organizations and those having royal patronage. The Crown Prince Couple will be present. 

Pool (40 spaces): Drabantsalen (Guards’ Room) during the arrival of the royal family and guests, 9.00 – 12.00. There is no further opportunity for photographing inside the palace. 

Meeting time: 08.00 by The Queen’s Gate, where there will be a security sweep by PET. 

Applications for accreditation including name, position, CPR number and media affiliation must be sent by e-mail to kom@kongehuset.dk by 09.00 on Thursday, 3 January at the latest.
Press ID cards must be carried. Press without accreditation will not be allowed access to Drabantsalen. Accredited press will be notified directly by 16.00 on 3 January at the latest.

Coach tour

On 4 January, Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Prince Consort will ride in the Gold Coach from Amalienborg to Christiansborg Palace under escort by the Royal Hussar Guard Regiment’s horse squadron. The coach departs from Christian IX’s Palace at Amalienborg at approx. 09.00. The route goes along Bredgade and Fredericiagade to Store Kongensgade via Kongens Nytorv, and along Holmens Kanal to Christiansborg Palace, where the coach arrives via Kirkeløngangsporten to Prince Jørgen’s Yard at 09.25. The Queen and The Prince Consort ride in the Gold Coach back to Amalienborg from Christiansborg Palace between 13.30 and 14.00. The route runs via Holmens Kanal, Kongens Nytorv, Bredgade and Frederiksgade. The coach is drawn by six Kladruber horses accompanied by two outriders also on Kladruber horses. Following the coach is an escort of 48 Hussar Guards. The Gold Coach, also called “King Christian VIII’s coach”, is coated with 24-carat gold leaf and was built by coach maker Henry Fife in 1840.
