Birthday celebration in Aarhus on 8 April

Her Majesty The Queen’s 75th birthday is celebrated at a number of events in Aarhus on Wednesday, 8 April 2015.

The day is led off with a coach tour through Aarhus, during which The Queen and The Prince Consort will ride in a coach through the city accompanied by the Hussar Guard Regiment’s Horse Escort, arriving at Aarhus City Hall at 12.00. The Queen and The Prince Consort last rode through Aarhus in a coach in 2010 in connection with The Queen’s 70th birthday.

Upon arrival at Aarhus City Hall, there will be an official reception, after which The Queen and The Prince Consort will appear on the balcony facing out to the City Hall square. The Crown Prince Couple and TRH Prince Joachim and Princess Marie will also participate in the celebration at Aarhus City Hall.  

Afterwards, there will be musical selections by the Aarhus School of Music, and the mayor will speak and present the city’s gift to The Queen in the central hall of City Hall. The celebration at Aarhus City Hall concludes with a luncheon. 

In the evening, there is a command performance in Musikhuset Aarhus. The birthday show takes place at 20.00 and is arranged by Musikhuset Aarhus and TV 2. At the event, The Queen and The Prince Consort, the Crown Prince Couple and Prince Joachim and Princess Marie participate. The show will be transmitted on TV 2, and among the performers will be Ørkenens Sønner (Sons of the Desert), the royal ballet dancers Ida Praetorius and Sebastian Haynes, Rasmus Seebach and Anne Linnet.

After the show, the royal family will circulate and greet attendees.
