Programme for birthday celebration on 16 April

Her Majesty The Queen’s 75th birthday is celebrated at a number of events in Copenhagen and a dinner at Fredensborg Palace.

The day begins with a morning wake-up of The Queen at 08.30 at Fredensborg Palace. At 12.00, there is a changing of the guard by The Royal Life Guards in red full dress uniforms at Amalienborg Palace Square, and at that time The Queen and the royal family will appear on the balconies of Christian VII’s Palace.
 

Afterwards, The Queen and The Crown Prince Couple will ride by coach through Copenhagen to Copenhagen City Hall escorted by the Hussar Guard Regiment’s Mounted Squadron, after which there will be an official reception by lord mayor Frank Jensen at 13.00 at Copenhagen City Hall. 

Subsequently, The Queen will take part in a luncheon reception at the City Hall in which representatives from official Denmark, visiting royal guests and the Danish royal family will participate. At the entrance of the central hall of City Hall, there will be music performed by the City of Copenhagen’s School Orchestras. 

In the central hall of City Hall, there will be entertainment. At 14.00, The Queen will appear on the City Hall’s balcony facing out to the City Hall Square. 

In the evening, there will be a dinner at Fredensborg Palace at 20.00.
