Programme for summer cruise

The Queen and The Prince Consort carry out a summer cruise aboard the Royal Yacht Dannebrog and pay visits in Syddjurs Municipality, Vejle and Aabenraa during the period of 1-4 September 2015.
The Regional State Administration and the individual municipalities have planned the programmes for the visits in cooperation with The Lord Chamberlain’s Office.

Visit in Syddjurs Municipality on 1 SeptemberArrival at Ebeltoft Harbour

The Queen and The Prince Consort take a barge from the Royal Yacht Dannebrog and arrive in Ebeltoft Harbour at Fregatten Jylland (the Frigate“ Jutland”), where there will be an official greeting by the reception committee. At the arrival, Prinsens Musikkorps performs. After the reception, The Queen and The Prince Consort ride in a coach accompanied by the Hussar Guard Regiment’s Horse-Mounted Squadron on a tour around Ebeltoft and end at Glasmuseet (The Glass Museum) in Ebeltoft.

The Queen and The Prince Consort visit The New Malt Factory, which is being turned into a new hub for innovation, culture, foods and youth culture through local and private involvement. During the visit, The Queen and The Prince Consort will be briefed about the activities that come together around The New Malt Factory.
Karlsladen at Kalø Estate, Mols Hills National Park

The Queen and The Prince Consort visit the new interpretation centre Karlsladen, which has special focus on the ancient past, Kalø’s history and hunting at Kalø. The Queen and The Prince Consort view an exhibition in the visitor centre that, among other things, tells about the history of hunting. The Queen and The Prince Consort are briefed about the visitor centre’s vision and function as an entry point into the Mols Hills National Park.

HM The Queen visits a modern municipal rehabilitation and recovery centre, where intensive and highly specialized courses of rehabilitation and ambulant recovery are carried out in new facilities. During the visit, The Queen will be shown around in the training room of the ambulant recovery centre and in the rehabilitation section. At the conclusion, The Queen visits a younger citizen who takes part in recovery training.
PR Electronics

The Queen visits PR Electronics in Rønde, which is an innovative company that develops and produces electronic modules for analysing and processing analogue and digital sound and light signals and for monitoring and controlling industry processes. During the visit, The Queen will be shown around and told about the company’s history. During the tour, several of the products and the production area will be displayed to The Queen.

Scandinavian Wildlife Park

HRH The Prince Consort visits Scandinavian Wildlife Park, which has a special focus on animals that live in Scandinavia and sub-Arctic areas. During the visit, The Prince Consort goes to the polar bear park and watches the polar bears being fed.
Residence home and activity centre Marie Magdalene

The Prince Consort visits Marie Magdalene in Ryomgård, which is a residence home and activity centre for the mentally and physically handicapped. During the visit, The Prince Consort is shown the various activities outdoors and watches entertainment in the canteen. At the conclusion, the centre’s therapeutic garden is displayed.

The Queen and The Prince Consort visit the renovated administration building in Hornslet, where there will be a parting ceremony with a speech by the mayor and entertainment by the Syddjurs youth school Shanghai Akademiet on the open area outside the building. Afterwards, The Queen and The Prince Consort go to Grenaa, where the Royal Yacht Dannebrog will be moored.

During the visit, The Queen and The Prince Consort are briefed about the company’s history while various products are displayed.
The Culture Museum at Spinderihallerne

The Queen and The Prince Consort visit Spinderihallerne (The Spinning Mill), which is one of Denmark’s fastest growing development and innovation environments, with more than 60 creative companies, artists, knowledge and culture institutions, and a municipal development team. During the visit, The Queen and The Prince Consort are shown around in the Culture Museum and, at the conclusion, get a chance to speak with two entrepreneurs based in Spinderihallerne.

De Kellerske Anstalter (The Keller Institutions)

HM The Queen pays a visit to the Keller Institutions, which is a museum about the past, present and future of the country’s most handicapped citizens. During the visit, The Queen takes part in a guided bus tour through the grounds of the former Keller Institutions. Afterwards, there is a visit to Rubens Verden, which is an educational laboratory, and, at the conclusion, The Queen visits Café Keller, which is part of Vejle Municipality’s residence and learning programmes for the handicapped.

HRH The Prince Consort visits Dan Cake, which is a family business that was established in 1931. Dan Cake produces cakes, jam rolls and tarts. During the visit, The Prince Consort is shown around and briefed about the company’s history. At the end, The Prince Consort visits the company’s production facilities.

The Prince Consort visits The Square in Give, where there will be entertainment by The Band of The Royal Lifeguards as well as different activities arranged by the Give Handelsstandsforening (local business association). During the visit, there will be displays of various sculptures that are a part of Skulpturby Give.

The Queen and The Prince Consort’s visit in Vejle concludes at the Vejle Yacht Harbour, where the municipality’s chief executive will give a briefing about the Yacht Harbour’s development.

The Queen and the Prince Consort arrive on the Royal Yacht Dannebrog at Gammelhavn, where there is an official reception. Upon the arrival, the Slesvigske Musikkorps will play “King Christian”. There will be a presentation of colours with flags representing military units, military service associations and others. In addition to that, the Aabenraa Skyttelaug af 1734, of which HRH The Prince Consort is an honorary member, will serve as a colour guard. After the reception ceremony, The Queen and The Prince Consort ride to Aabenraa City Hall.

Kunstmuseet Brundlund Slot

The Queen and The Prince Consort visit the art museum Kunstmuseet Brundlund Slot, which has a collection of more than 1000 works by primarily Southern Jutland artists from the end of the 1700s until the present. During the visit, The Queen and The Prince Consort get a tour of the exhibition “Nolde, Clausen og Eckersberg – alt du skal vide om sønderjysk kunst” (“Nolde, Clausen and Eckersberg – all you need to know about Southern Jutland art”). The exhibition focuses on the development of Danish art from 1750-2015, seen through the eyes of Southern Jutland artists.

The Queen and The Prince Consort visit the company Marcussen & Søn – Orgelbyggeri, which was founded in 1806 and has built more than 1100 organs. Today, the company is run by the 7th generation of the family. During the visit, The Queen and The Prince Consort will be briefed about the company’s history and shown around the organ builder’s workshop, where new organs are being built for St. Marien-Kirche in Süderlügum south of the Danish-German border and for Ski Middelalderkirke in Norway.

Luncheon at Folkehjem

Aabenraa Kommune hosts a luncheon at Folkehjem. Before the luncheon, The Queen and The Prince Consort appear on Folkehjem’s balcony. The building is often called the community house for all of Southern Jutland, and its history goes back to 1900, when Southern Jutland was under Prussian rule. Folkehjem was the central location for the Danish movement in North Schleswig until the reunification in 1920. It was from Folkehjem’s balcony that parliament member H.P. Hanssen declared in 1918 that there would be a plebiscite in which the pro-Danish North Schleswigers could vote themselves back home to Denmark. During the luncheon, the Slesvigske Musikkorps performs.

Lyreskovskolen in Bov

HM The Queen visits Lyreskovskolen in Bov, which was put into service at the start of the school year in August 2015. During the visit, The Queen will be shown Skoletorvet, which with new initiatives takes into account the different ways in which students learn. Here, the school’s students will work in groups, present projects and perform songs.
Abena

The Queen visits the company Abena, which produces health and personal care products. The family-owned company was founded in 1953 and is now run by the 3rd generation. The product range covers, among other things, incontinence and nursing care, disposable items, personal care and baby’s nappies. During the visit, The Queen will be shown products as well as the facilities where the company’s products are manufactured.
The nursing home Lergården

The Queen visits the nursing home Lergården, which in June 2015 was expanded with 43 new residences and a service area. During the visit, The Queen will view the new residences and surroundings and pay a visit in the home of one of the nursing home’s residents. At the visit, the Slesvigske Musikkorps performs.

Naturmælk

HRH The Prince Consort visits the organic dairy Naturmælk at Tinglev. The dairy was started in 1994 by Southern Jutland farmers as a co-operative. Now, 31 farmers have a share of the dairy, which puts out more than 200 different products. During the visit, The Prince Consort will be shown around, briefed about the dairy’s history and shown various products.

The Prince Consort visits Kalvø, where there will be a tour of the place where the shipyard was once situated. During the visit, The Prince Consort will get a chance to enjoy the nature and the maritime atmosphere on the island.

The Queen and The Prince Consort conclude the visit in Aabenraa at the Main Square. There will be a briefing about the organization “Et hjerte for alle” (“A heart for all”), which has the objective of helping underprivileged families and individuals in Aabenraa Municipality to a better Christmas. The mayor unveils this year’s heart-shaped Christmas jewellery piece, which is sold to support “Et hjerte for alle”. Afterwards, the mayor gives a concluding speech.
