The Crown Prince Couple pay an official visit in Germany from 19-21 May 2015 to lead a Danish business delegation.

His Royal Highness The Crown Prince and Her Royal Highness The Crown Princess visit Hamburg and Munich to lead a Danish business delegation, in which more than 100 companies are expected to participate. Under the theme Danish Living/Dänisches Leben, there will be a focus on architecture, energy, environment, medicinal products, gastronomy and design during the visit.

The visit’s overall theme is Danish Living/Dänisches Leben, which will focus on the following sectors both in Hamburg and in Munich:

  • Sustainable Living – architecture, construction, city planning, sustainable energy, energy efficiency and environment-related
  • Healthy Living – medicinal goods, assistive devices and medical equipment and technology
  • Tasty Living – food, beverages, gastronomy and tourism
  • Stylish Living – fashion, design, furniture and interior design
Both in Hamburg and Munich, the Crown Prince Couple will participate in the opening of business seminars and pay visits at the four sector seminars (Sustainable Living, Healthy Living, Tasty Living and Stylish Living). The Crown Prince Couple will also take part in two business luncheons and gala dinners for the participating companies and their guests. The programme also includes several company visits in both cities.

In Hamburg, the Crown Prince Couple will be received by mayor Olaf Scholz at the Hamburg City Hall and, in Munich, Bavaria’s minister-president Horst Seehofer and Mrs. Seehofer will host a luncheon in Munich Residenz.
Background

Germany is the world’s fourth-largest economy, the EU’s largest economy and, for a long time, the largest Danish export market. In 2014, Denmark’s exports were worth nearly 110 billion kroner and close to 150 billion kroner if service activities are taken into account. The potential, however, is much greater, and the visit will strengthen the commercial relations between Denmark and Germany and help to further develop Danish platforms in Germany and develop new businesses and export opportunities.

Germany is the country in Europe where most companies get new products on the market, and, with its innovative environment and close interaction between research and the business sector as well as its easy access to financing, Bavaria has a great part of the credit. The hope is that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will, to a greater extent, become aware of the potential in southern Germany, and, at the same time, the visit strengthens Denmark’s already large-scale engagement in the northern states.
