Diversity and a youthful expression characterise the floral decorations for HM The Queen’s gala dinner on the occasion of HRH Prince Christian’s 18th birthday at Christiansborg Palace.

In Frederik the 6th’s dessert set, there are combinations of 18 brilliantly coloured flowers, each of which represents diversity: Velvety red roses in contrast with the rough and thistle-like blue sea holly. Small, yellow drumstick flowers beside the large, mauve bulbous plant allium. Small-pointed pink veronicas together with long-pointed yellow snapdragons. Delicate nerines and hardy salmon-pink carnations. Cream-coloured native hypericum together with the orange exotic flower bird-of-paradise. The small flowers of salmon-coloured santini chrysanthemums and light purple sea asters in contrast with large-headed chrysanthemums. Mauve foxtail amaranth beside the standing white herb Star of Bethlehem and red climbing lilies. Royal blue larkspur in contrast with light-coloured grasses.

Her Majesty has helped to develop the overall idea and the expression in the floral decorations.
