Her Majesty The Queen has undergone extensive back surgery at Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen today. The operation went according to plan, and The Queen’s condition is good and stable under the circumstances.  

The Queen will continue to be hospitalized at Rigshospitalet for some time to come, and an extended period of recuperation and physical rehabilitation of her back awaits after that.  

Since Tuesday, His Royal Highness The Crown Prince has performed the duties of regent. Starting on 25 February, the Crown Prince Couple will on an official visit to India, and Her Royal Highness Princess Benedikte will therefore function as acting regent from 25 February.
