Program for visit to Milan

Sustainable solutions in Danish design and architecture are in focus when HRH The Crown Princess participates in Milan Design Week the days of 7-8 September 2021. Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs Simon Kollerup participates in parts of the visit.

Milan Design Week is the world’s largest annual furniture and design event, and this year Denmark will be represented, among other things, in the form of an exhibition focused on sustainability and the circular economy in Danish design and architecture.

Over two days, Her Royal Highness will, among other things, visit the Danish exhibition and be shown sustainable Danish projects and products. During the visit to Milan, The Crown Princess will also meet participating Danish design companies exhibiting in Milan and hear about the sustainable solutions and products they offer.

The goal of the visit is to focus on Danish traditions in the creative industries and, at the same time, promote knowledge of the focus that Danish architecture and design companies have on sustainability and the circular economy as well as Danish green competencies.

The Danish exhibition at Milan Design Week has been created in a collaboration between the Royal Danish embassy in Italy, the Confederation of Danish Industry, Creative Denmark, the Danish Architecture Center, Realdania, VisitDenmark and the participating Danish companies.

Tuesday, 7 September

Visit at the Danish exhibition
14:15

The Crown Princess visits the Danish exhibition at Museo Nazionale Scienza e Tecnologia Leonardo Da Vinci. There, Her Royal Highness will, among other things, be shown around at The TrashFormation Village, where the Danish sustainable design firm Lendager Group has designed a chair made of plastic waste and wood. During the visit, The Crown Princess will also have the opportunity to meet with the participating Danish design companies exhibiting in Milan. A portrait of The Crown Princess made from recycled material will be presented during the visit. The portrait is a part of the project “Scart Initiative”, which consists of a number of portraits produced from recycled materials and exhibited during Milan Design Week. 

In-genius Waste Ceremony
18:00

The Crown Princess takes part in and gives the opening remarks at the In-genius Waste Ceremony at Museo Nazionale Scienza e Tecnologia Leonardo Da Vinci. During the arrangement, there will, among other things, be a panel debate with Danish companies about innovative and effective circular solutions to challenges resulting from production of waste material.

Wednesday, 8 September

Round-table discussion “The City of the Future: Building the Irresistible Circular Society”

The Crown Princess will give the opening remarks at the round-table discussion, which is arranged by the Danish Embassy in Rome in cooperation with the Danish Architecture Center. The round-table is held at Museo Nazionale Scienza e Tecnologia Leonardo Da Vinci, and the discussion will focus on Danish solutions in green transition. Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs Simon Kollerup and a number of Danish companies will take part in the round-table, among others.

Visit at Fondazione Prada
11:30

The Crown Princess visits the cultural institution Fondazione Prada, which is engaged in a number of cultural areas and, among other things, works with art and restoration of buildings. During the visit, The Crown Princess takes part in a tour.

Visit with Danish companies
14:00

The Crown Princess visits three of the participating Danish companies exhibiting during Milan Design Week. Her Royal Highness will visit with the furniture company Fritz Hansen, the design company Carl Hansen & Søn and the company Gabriel, which produces furniture textiles.

Gala dinner
19:30

The Crown Princess participates in a gala dinner at Galleria Rossana Orlandi. Before the dinner, Her Royal Highness takes part in a short tour of the gallery.
