Programme for HRH The Crown Prince's visit in New York

Representatives of the UN’s member states have gathered for the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York. In this connection, HRH The Crown Prince will visit New York from 19-21 September 2023. With the New York visit, His Royal Highness will, among other things, contribute to promoting Denmark’s candidacy for the UN Security Council 2025-2026 and participate in arrangements and meetings related to the UN’s 2030 agenda for sustainable development.

The Crown Prince, in his role as patron of Food Nation, gives the opening speech at an evening reception focused on green transformation of food production. The arrangement is held by Food Nation in partnership with, among others, The Consulate General of Denmark in New York.

Run in Central Park in connection with Denmark’s candidacy for the UN Security Council

The Crown Prince takes part in a morning run in Central Park together with the UN ambassadors’ running club. The goal of the run is to raise awareness of Denmark’s candidacy for the UN Security Council.

Nordic ministerial meeting with the SICA member states

The Crown Prince participates in the annual ministerial meeting between Nordic ministers and the foreign affairs ministers of the eight member countries of SICA (The Central American Integration System), which include Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and the Dominican Republic.

UN Climate Ambition Summit

The Crown Prince attends the opening of UN Secretary-General António Guterres’ UN Climate Ambition Summit, which has the objective of accelerating and demonstrating concrete climate action from governments, companies, financial institutions and civil society prior to the COP28 climate summit in December.

Nordic ministerial meeting with the CARICOM member states

The Crown Prince takes part in the annual ministerial meeting between Nordic ministers and the foreign affairs ministers of the 15 member states of CARICOM (The Caribbean Community), which include Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, and also Trinidad and Tobago.

Pacific Leaders reception

The Crown Prince participates in a reception held by Pacific Small Island Developing States (PSIDS), which is an association of 14 Pacific Ocean islands. Heads of state and government from the Pacific Ocean island states will be present at the reception, among others.

Summit of the Future Ministerial Meeting

The Crown Prince attends the opening of the Summit of the Future Ministerial Meeting, at which the UN’s secretary-general and ministers of the UN’s member states will set out their visions, priorities and expectations for “Summit of the Future”, which will take place during UNGA79 in 2024. The ambition for “Summit of the Future” is to lay the groundwork for strengthened global cooperation and joint commitment.

The Crown Prince visits Denmark House, where His Royal Highness gets the opportunity to, among other things, greet the staff members of the UN Mission and the Consulate General of Denmark.

LDC Ministerial Meeting

The Crown Prince attends the opening of the ministerial meeting for the group of least developed countries (LDCs). The group consists of 46 countries, and the ministerial meeting will focus, among other things, on the challenges the countries face as a consequence of the food and energy crises, the debt crisis and climate change.

Leaders of the Urban Future

The Crown Prince takes part in a reception for decision-makers in the area of sustainable development arranged by Leaders of the Urban Future, which is facilitated by the Denmark-based company Urban Partners. The purpose of the reception is to bring together persons from the urban development and real estate sectors to create momentum with regard to decarbonisation of the built environment.
