With Danish veterans in Australia
From 21-26 October, HRH The Crown Prince attends the multisports event Invictus Games in Sydney, Australia, where His Royal Highness will visit the 25 participating Danish veterans.

When the Invictus Games are carried out in the Australian city Sydney at the end of October 2018, Denmark will be represented by 25 veterans. Here, they will compete in the disciplines sitting volleyball, swimming, archery, rowing, cycling, athletics, power lifting, driving challenge and sailing. And, along the way, they will be followed by The Crown Prince, who will be present in Sydney during most of the event.
The idea behind the Invictus Games is to bestow honor on wounded veterans and thank them for their efforts in behalf of their country. On the eight days the multisports event takes place, 500 participants from 18 countries will take part. In the Danish Invictus Games program, there is, in addition, a special focus on personal development, which should be seen as a contribution to the already ongoing rehabilitation they are at work on. The Crown Prince has followed the veterans’ work for a good while. Most recently, His Royal Highness visited the Danish participants at their training session in August 2018. There, The Crown Prince followed the participants’ training in the nine disciplines in which Denmark participates as well as their parallel rehabilitation.
In addition to visiting the Invictus Games, The Crown Prince will also take part in the celebration of the Sydney Opera House’s 45th anniversary.
The first Invictus Games were held in London in 2014. Subsequently, the multisports event has taken place in Orlando, USA in 2016 and in Toronto, Canada in 2017. In 2020, the Invictus Games will be held in The Hague in The Netherlands.
