Share

Statsråd den 14. januar 2022

HM The Queen and HRH The Crown Prince participated in a special, formal Council of State on 14 January 2022 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of The Queen’s accession to the throne. The Council of State meeting, which was no. 560 during The Queen’s reign, was different than normal as a consequence of the situation with COVID-19. The number of participants was adjusted to only five ministers, including prime minister Mette Frederiksen, and, in honor of the occasion, there was no plan for holding the customary proceedings. Instead, the day’s meeting began with a speech in which The Queen first looked back at Her Majesty’s first Council of State as monarch on 15 January 1972. After that, The Queen offered thanks for the good and respectful cooperation with both the present and the previous governments. Prime minister Mette Frederiksen then delivered a speech and, on behalf of the government, congratulated The Queen for the 50 years as Denmark’s sovereign.
