Press release: Cancellation of New Year’s banquet and New Year’s levees in 2022

In connection with the most recent announcements about the coronavirus situation from the government and health authorities, HM The Queen has decided to cancel the New Year’s banquet for the government, the Speaker of the Danish Parliament, representatives of official Denmark and the Royal Court on 1 January 2022.

The subsequent New Year’s levees for the Supreme Court of Denmark, the Officer Corps of The Royal Life Guard and The Guard Hussar Regiment, the diplomatic corps, the Defence and the Danish Emergency Management Agency, the I., II. and III. ranking classes as well as representatives of large national organizations and royal patronages that were scheduled to take place on 4 and 5 January 2022 are likewise cancelled.  

This year, it will be possible to send a digital New Year’s greeting to The Queen and the Royal Family via the Royal House of Denmark’s website www.kongehuset.dk. This will be possible from New Year’s Day until the end of the week.

In keeping with tradition, The Queen’s annual New Year’s Address will be held on 31 December 2021 at 18:00 hrs. and broadcast live.
